How To Save Your Marriage – Five Ways To Save a Relationship
Your fighting constantly now. The silences seem to get longer and quieter so much that it is almost deafening. You never touch one another even when you sleep in the same bed every night. Your relationship has taken a turn for the worst and you both know it. Now is the time to figure out how to save your marriage before it turns into a divorce.
The fact that you are both willing to try anything at all is a good sign in my book, And there are ways to save a relationship, but it takes work.
1. Take some time to relive the past. What made you want to be with each other in the first place? Did you absolutely love her sense of humor? Was he super sexy in his Sports uniform? Be specific and think about what made you attracted to each other in the first place. Find something from your past together and let it allow you to reconnect.
If her sense of humor was what attracted you then go to a comedy show. Find his old football jersey and have him wear it. Even if you have to put on a pretense that you are the same people that you once were for a few minutes, try to feel the love you had in the beginning. The love still exists in you it has just been buried under the stress of everyday life. Let them float back to the surface.
2. Touch each other for no reason other then to touch. Most times when we get mad, hurt or sad, we build a barrier around ourselves instead of reaching out to the people that we love. This leaves them feeling mad, hurt or sad. This can be a never ending cycle. reach over and caress your wife’s hair. Rub your husbands arm. Briefly touch each other as you are passing each other throughout the house. It doesn’t matter how you are touching each other, what’s important is that you are.
3. Actually kiss each other. Kissing and touching are not the same thing. It could be view as an unintentional gesture if you are just brushing up against on another but there will be no mistaking the intention of a kiss. Surround your husbands face with your hands and lightly kiss him. You’d be surprised how fast anger melts away when there is passion involved.
4. Try a change of scenery. Staring at the same four walls when you are angry with someone can make the most beautifully decorated room feel like a jail cell. Go away for the weekend, even if it is only to a local hotel. The change may allow you to relax enough to discuss what is wrong, or maybe it will suddenly seem so insignificant that you forget it completely.
5. Act like your complete stranger. No, I don’t mean ignore each other. When we don’t know someone very well our manners are on their best behavior. We treat the strangers with respect and dignity, much more so then we do with the ones we love. Doesn’t seem to fair now, does it? Give being super polite at home a whirl. Say please and make sure to say thank you for even the smallest of tasks accomplished. Give and receive compliments both graciously and sincerely. Basically act as if you really do care and like the person your with.
It can be hard to save your marriage but well worth it. Just remember that every little change you make will put you one step closer to having the marriage that you lost.
