Essentially, deciding on a wedding song should be a splendid moment shared between the bride and bridegroom to be. In most cases, you and your spouse-to-be will have a particular song in mind that you both feel captures your love for each other, and one which tells the story of how much you love each other. Artists are forever penning lyrics for songs which can be played at weddings. Irrespective of your age, you can always find a “heart song” that is yours to keep for eternity.

Traditional music such as the wedding march is a staple of a marriage ceremony but the wedding song should be one that reflects on both of you. There are plenty of songs to choose from and when you start trying to find one the list gets pretty long. Try to narrow it down to a few songs you both like and then decide from there.

It doesn’t really matter who chooses the song just as long as you both agree upon it. Unlike the groom’s cake which is seldom compared to the wedding cake, the song should be a couple minded tune. If you are creative enough to write your own song and have it recorded you can do that as well, but try not to put anymore stress on yourselves than necessary.

No one can deny the fact that a wedding song which is played for the first dance between the bride and bridegroom is exceptionally special. Essentially, you should try to ensure that the song is suitable for a slow dance so that the moment can be a memorable one considering that the two of you will now be Mr. And Mrs.

Of course, if you plan to have a band play the song then it’s vital to make sure that they are familiar with it before the big moment arrives. Irrespective of whether or not you choose one of the old classics, or whether you choose one of the newer songs which have a love theme, don’t for a minute worry about whether or not others will enjoy the song because after all it is your day.

You can choose from soul classics or pop rock hits. Bands such as Aerosmith, Journey, Bon Jovi and REO Speedwagon are always top favorites. Singers like Lionel Richie, Percy Sledge, Luther Vandross and Stevie Wonder add a soulful element to a wedding song. To show your mate how much you love them you can always get your wedding song as their ring tone.

The younger generation has their pick of newer artists for a wedding song too. Vanessa Carlton, Kelly Clarkson, Oasis and Usher are more contemporary. Remember, choosing your wedding song should be fun and reflective of your life together. Nobody said you had to go the traditional route when picking a song.

On the other hand, if you really want to pile on the sappiness, then you can always opt for a song by The Carpenters or Air Supply for example. Then again, if you intend avoiding tradition and you would both like to spice things up a little, then you could of course choose a song by Guns N Roses, Whitesnake, or Billy Idol. The bottom line is; you need to make sure that your wedding song is they great start to your new life.
